Concern Worldwide
Knowledge-Sharing Solution Helps NGO Lower Costs, Improve Project Management
One of the world's leading humanitarian organisations, Ireland-based Concern worldwide employs 4000 and has an expanding base of local partners. To carry out its mission, Concern must quickly process information into knowledge that it can distribute to an increasingly diverse workforce and partner base, so that critical information and funding is available when needed. Working with Microsoft®® Services, Concern developed a people-centric knowledge-sharing system based on Microsoft® Office SharePoint® Server 2007 and Office Groove® Server 2007. The new proof-of-concept solution has helped Concern improve knowledge management inside and outside of the organization. In turn, that has helped Concern become more responsive and efficient and better able to distribute funds where they are needed most.

Cork County Council Planning Department
Council Improves Productivity, Information Access with Document Management System
The Cork County Council Planning Department is responsible for evaluating planning applications for Cork County, Ireland. The rapid growth of building developments in Cork County has resulted in a twenty per cent year on year increase in the volume of planning applications. Due to government staff number restrictions and statuary requirements, the Planning Department needed to work smarter to ensure that the work is turned around within the prescribed time. To do this, the Planning Department worked with Microsoft®® Services to create a document management system based on Microsoft® Office SharePoint® 2007 technology.

Bord Gais Eireann
Microsoft® SharePoint Delivers Access to Project Management Information Easily and Efficiently
Bord Gais Eireann is spending €1.4 billion building out its transmission network to meet the projected demands for natural gas in Ireland up to the year 2025. These infrastructure developments will effectively double the size of the distribution network. Engineering projects are outsourced to external project consultants that are responsible for the design, procurement and construction management. Project management required that documentation of all types should be available to the relevant people from a central repository. This was achieved using some bespoke software with Microsoft®® SharePoint™ Portal Server and SQL Server™.

Beijing 2008 Olympic Games
Beijing Olympics Builds Powerful and Flexible Information Search System
The 2008 Olympics in Beijing, China, will host 10,000 athletes, 302 events, 7 million spectators, and more than 20,000 international media personnel. Beijing will use a Web portal called INFO 2008 to provide Olympics partners and media with continually updated information and event results. To provide accurate information promptly, the BOCOG needed a powerful search solution for INFO 2008 that would perform at high levels and integrate into the portal's user interface. The BOCOG used Microsoft®® Office SharePoint® Server 2007™ to create powerful search features for INFO 2008, so users can find the facts they need easily and quickly. Olympics athletes, officials, partners, and the accredited media will be able to search and find the information they need to successfully present, promote, and report the 29th Summer Olympics.
